Legacy Properties for Generations
Bear Mountain LLC is a family venture made up of generations of sportsmen and sportswomen who have a great love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Inspired by our grandparents, Cecil, and Irene McCoy who started ranching in Whitewater, Colorado, in 1946, and raised seven children. Including our fathers, who taught us to fish and hunt when we weren’t working or tending to our own livestock. Imagine hunting your own private property surrounded by thousands of acres of public lands to enhance your experience. Our History
An Ethical Venture
Growing up on the western slope of Colorado I was somewhat spoiled hunting the private ranches owned by family and ranchers we knew. Plentiful public ground without crowds. Those days are now in the rearview mirror as hunting is now ruled by websites and apps that show you the best places to hunt in our state. After being named a top four destination for elk hunting, I no longer hunt one of my favorite areas because it has tripled the amount of hunters in our favorite spot. In one season the forest was filled with people who had no ethics for hunting. Gone are the days when you could knock on a farmer or rancher’s door and ask permission to hunt. The stories told by my family and the morals and ethics we learned seem to be missing in today’s landscape.

Building Traditions
We have taught our kids the same life lessons we learned but it becomes increasingly difficult to carry on traditions, when your favorite hunting spots have 15 trucks parked in them. All our properties will combine many recreational opportunities beyond hunting for the entire family, including ATV horseback riding, fishing, snowmobiling, etc., year-round. Your shares in the property of the LLC will not be any different from those of the founder and manager.
